The art of India, one book at a time
Sixteen small books on painting, floor art, textiles, craft and dance from across India. Open a book to see real photographs of the art and the artists. Each one has a full 20-page book to read or print, covering its history, why it is good for children, and the maths and science inside it.
Map outline: svg-maps by Victor Cazanave, CC BY 4.0. Dots mark where each art form is best known; most are practised more widely.
These books are for teachers and parents to read with children aged 4 to 12. The activities are classroom versions inspired by each tradition. To see the real work, look for the artists themselves, their families and their cooperatives.
